Job Description
Under limited supervision, the coordinator directs the operation of an outpatient mental health clinic (OMHC) that serves a caseload of approximately 1,500 patients including adults, children and adolescents. Provides leadership, guidance and consultation to a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
• Provides overall leadership, guidance and consultation to multidisciplinary mental health teams consisting of nurses, social workers, psychiatrists and students/residents.
• Maintains quality of patient care and mental health services by direct observation and through supervision of team leaders and support staff.
• Assists the Director with recruitment and hiring of multidisciplinary staff and the development of clinic orientation.
• Provides clinical and administrative supervision including work assignment, training, evaluation and clinical case consultation in accordance with UMMS and departmental policies and procedures
.
• Assists the Director in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), OHCQ and CMS standards.
• Responsible for monitoring the environment of care at the site and for addressing any issues that occur.
• Provides advanced psychiatric social work and/or mental health services for the most difficult and complex cases.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, or in any behavioral health-related field, is required. Valid Maryland licensure.
• Five years post-masters experience in the delivery of mental health services is required.
• Two years supervisory experience, preferably with a multidisciplinary team, is required.
• Proficient knowledge of clinical practice and theory, program planning and regulatory requirements (CMS, OCHQ and The Joint Commission) for clinical services.
• Proficient supervisory skills are required, including directing and managing the work of clinical and support staff involving determination of work priorities, auditing work quality, orienting and training, evaluation and discipline of staff.
• Must be able to bill Medicare and Medicaid for clinical services.
• Proficient organization and problem-solving skills are required to develop/implement efficient work processes, and to successfully resolve difficult, conflict-oriented situations for the common good.
